ANFIS-Based Fault Distance Locator with Active Power Differential-based Faulty Line Identification Algorithm for Shunt and Series Compensated Transmission Line using WAMS

In power systems, it is challenging to identify the faulty line and fault distance when compensating devices are present in system. This work presents a locator using an Adaptive-Network-based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) that accurately estimates location on compensated conjunction with active differential-based backup protection algorithm for identification. Both identification ANFIS-based utilise positive negative sequence voltage current phasors generated by Phasor Measurement units (PMUs) placed The trained tested simulated data obtained MATLAB Simulink model of modified WSCC 9 bus training varying steps 10 km. line-to-line resistance (Rf) 0.01 Ω, 0.1 Ω & 1 line-to-ground (Rg) 100 used different types faults (LG, LLG, LLLG, LL& LLL) training. Two ANFIS structures estimation - one Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) other Series (SSSC). Simulation results show 5% tolerance all conditions simulated.
